After going through it (and the comments), I learnt about a few tools (maybe 3 or 4) that I have now included here. This list was not inspired on Scott Hanselman's list, in part because I had only discovered it very recently.

This list has been discussed on /r/windows, /r/DataHoarder, and Hacker News. I don't plan to add every app I use because some may be too specific (but some on this list are very specific too, so, I don't know, I may publish the criteria I followed later). I could have called it "an awesome list of the best applications and tools for Windows", but I am not that ambitious.

1920x1080).This is an opinionated compilation of GUI software I use on Windows, and it is work-in-progress. In fact it makes no sense to provide fixed resolutions to the user (e.g. Seems as if the programmer of all these converters are not aware of anamorphic video, although these play a role in broadcast even in todays HD.

I'd suggest everyone else do the same: Moo0's free Video Cutter is the perfect adjunct to any video converter software from any developer. For myself, I never expect too much, hence why, when it comes to quick, simple and easy editing, I stick with the irreplaceable freeware from those lovely folks over at Moo0: There's so little to choose between conversion offerings that taking advantage of Aiseesoft's kindness is a no-brainer, albeit if you're expecting software of this nature to be competent at anything else, then see Klein Fritzchen's helpful post. What actually helps other GOTDers is not the revelation that you've just reformatted your computer and today's offer (whatever it is) is amazingly well-timed (funny, how frequently people on here post comments testifying to such coincidences) but contributions such as today's from Adif, Ric, Karl, Keya23 and Klein Fritzchen.Īs to this giveaway: if you don't already have a converter, then acquire this. Would it possible for some folks to appreciate that posting "Great! Thanks for the download!" - whether or not such sentiment is accompanied by an embarrassing religious benediction - doesn't actually help anyone? All who use GOTD are grateful to GOTD for (a) pioneeering the software giveaway sector and (b) facilitating the product review thread - otherwise they wouldn't be GOTD users, would they? Gosh, there are soooooo many freebies out there that it just isn't worth my time to install this and be forced to jump thru hoops to run it. Thank you to Aiseesoft and GOTD Team for providing me/us with the opportunity to test this software. the ability to convert audio files to several formats(including FLAC, which produces lossless files half the size of wav).Īfter further testing I might provide some more details. Now, a few words about what I like about this program: In addition to that, during the installation process, you are being forced to blindly press the install button, and trust that everything will be O.K. Therefore, I think, that those who have a little older version of this software allowing you to disable automatic updates, they should keep it.Īlso, I do not like the fact that the installer doesn't offer the ability to select the place where one would like to install the program. This makes me wonder: how long will this software work, and when will it stop working? They no longer include an option to disable automatic updates, or for that matter any option at all- regarding updates.
